Summary
The car is above average mechanically, runs and drives well and the overdrive was definitely worth the money and effort. The $20/hr stuff I did myself but anything beyond that was completed by a competent repair facility. All gauges work with the exception of the fuel gauge, which drops out at half a tank leading me to believe that it is a sender issue. The fuel tank needs to be replaced before any distance driving, the corrosion is letting loose causing the filters to plug regularly. I had the body inspected by my Paint Supervisor who restores classic cars before purchase, he deemed the corrosion “period correct”, very sound and restorable. It looks good from ten feet but the flaws show up as you move closer. There is some bubbling of the paint around the repair areas listed above, this is due to the use of the wrong type of flux when the repair panels were leaded in. Aesthetically it still might be a bit rough but the big money has been spent mechanically it just needs someone to take it the final step.
